Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Performs design and development of new products, or major modifications of existing products.
- Responsible for the accuracy of design and the quality of the final detailed part drawings.
- Promotes an open atmosphere encouraging idea generation, technology assessment and innovation.
- Makes decisions within the framework of applied technology; formulates new approaches and techniques for the solution of technical problems encountered in design.
- Evaluates and tests new technologies.
- Must stay abreast of new developments in component technologies and trends in the capital equipment manufacturing industry sector.
- Tests and reports on customer specified or supplied material run-ability.
- Oversees development of documentation necessary for manufacturing release of new and existing equipment. Including Bills of materials, Product Flow Charts, Part Drawings, Assembly Drawings, Schematic (Air, Lube, and Hydraulics) Piping Drawings and Orientation Drawings.
- Responsible for the application of engineering and manufacturing standards, as well as appropriate product and component standards. Expected to produce designs which comply with HolwegWeber engineering standards and all local standards, which apply in the areas in which the machine will be sold.
- Lead the design review process with other departments for all assigned projects.
- Work closely with automation engineers to ensure correct implementation of the system as designed.
- Communicates with manufacturing, assembly, and service to resolve conflicts and identify areas for improvements.
- Correct errors or inaccuracies found in design. Processes Non-conforming Material Reports, Engineering Change Notices, and Engineering Change Request when required.
- Participates in the design estimation process, which includes determining the feasibility of design, estimates design times requirements, assemble, test and project costs.
- Communicate with the Technical Publication Department to maintain accuracy of technical information for the customer manuals.
- Generates and maintains accurate test reports/logs in accordance with department standards.

Education and/or Experience
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or an associate’s degree and three or more years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
Required working knowledge of Solidworks or comparable 3D CAD system, knowledge of PDM systems is a plus.
Preferred experience in an OEM environment or manufacturing facility. Experience with paper or web handling systems is a plus.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications, professional journals, and blueprints. Ability to write reports and documentation. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, customers and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to function independently and with a team.
Other Qualifications
Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard office machines, to include a computer, telephone, fax, copier, etc., and the ability to operate a variety of test and development equipment. Ability to concentrate in a noisy environment.
